Ruby on Rails html and ruby rile

How do I save a html and ruby on rails file ? I made a file called home.html.erb and it works . I have a tab called list , and when the user clicks on it it takes them to list.html.erb which I want to happen . But when i'm on the page it shows the code that I put in . So I wanted to know if it has something to do with where I put the list.html.erb file or if I saved it with the wrong extension(s). The home.html.erb file is in C:\ruby\rails\Interface\app\views\pages and the list.html.erb file is in C:\ruby\rails\Interface\public . I did try to put them in the same file but it still didn't work . Any help ?
