Connecting PhoneGap to Rails API?

I have an Rails API and I wanted to connect it to PhoneGap app but don't know how. I watched several tutorials but didn't understand where should I define GET requests and connection to Rails API in PhoneGap app. If someone have some really good tutorial or example code or anything where can I see where should I define those requests and connection please be free to answer.
