In ruby on rails 3 how to render an image using image tag or img src ,stored in newly created folder which is located in public folder?

I want to render an image from styles folder which is in public folder,i want to do this using either image_tag or img src. If i store images in assets then they are rendered but not from "styles" folder.What path should i give to render it successfully?
